Youth United Way Hosts 11th Annual Empty Bowls Event, Still Accepting Donations

The following is a news release from the Youth United Way:

Youth United Way is holding its 11th annual Empty Bowls fundraising dinner on February 28 at Stillwater Area High School.

Guests will pack the high school’s cafeteria and enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread and have the opportunity to peruse the silent auction items including a sauce basket from Famous Dave’s, many art pieces donated by local artists, a new iPod from Cities 97, and a gift basket from Lake Elmo Bank.

The purpose of our Empty Bowls event is to raise awareness of the hunger and “empty bowls” in our community.

The money raised is allocated by the youth to the local food shelf, other hunger programs, and youth-oriented programs in our Stillwater Area community.

Each guest has the chance to choose a locally made pottery bowl to bring home with them as a constant reminder of the local hunger issues.

The youth has worked for months preparing for this event, calling artists and restaurants and planning for the evening; however, we are still in need of bowls.

If you are interested in donating bowls or other items to this cause, or if you’d like to buy tickets to the event online, please contact Jessica atjessica@uwwce.org
