City Gives Updates on Downtown Stillwater Projects

The city's engineering department sent out an update on the progress of downtown projects.

The following information was provided by the City of Stillwater's Engineering Department:

US Army Corps of Engineers Project
  • Construction of a pumping manhole structure on Mulberry Street began on Monday, Aug. 26.  Mulberry Street will remain open during construction. This work should be completed by Friday, Aug. 30.
  • Construction at Nelson Street and Myrtle Street has been delayed due to conflicts with the existing utilities. The Corps of Engineers and the contractor are working on the appropriate changes and underground construction is expected to continue after Labor Day.
  • Due to high water of the St. Croix river in the spring, the completion of the project has been extended to Sept. 19.

City Projects 

  • Grading of the amphitheater area at the east end of the pedestrian plaza is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 26. The parking lots in this area will be closed.  This work should be completed by Friday, Aug. 30.
  • The City Council approved the contractor for the Downtown Parking Lot Improvement Project. Work will begin on this project in September and be completed by the end of November. Updates on the project will follow.
