BSM Hockey Games Canceled Thursday
Players deemed not ready yet after teammate's serious injury last week.
The varsity and junior varsity boys hockey games against Wayzata on Thursday have been canceled, as school officials don't feel the players are ready to take the ice after teammate Jack Jablonski was seriously injured in their last game.
Jablonski, a 16-year-old sophomore, was paralyzed by a hit he took in a junior varsity game against Wayzata on Dec. 30. He underwent surgery Wednesday at the Hennepin County Medical Center and is .
Ric Lager, a parent of a BSM junior varsity player, said there was a team and parent meeting Wednesday afternoon and they decided that players are not yet emotionally ready to take the ice.

Initially, the BSM varsity game was scheduled to go on, with the Red Knights to wear honorary patches on their sleeves (see image at right). It is unclear if BSM's next game, against crosstown rival St. Louis Park on Saturday at the , will be held as scheduled.
On Twitter, there has been a wave of support for Jablonski, with people using the hashtag #jabs to post updates. Through the social networking site, a "whiteout" has been planned for Thursday, as people are encouraged to wear white in honor of Jablonski.

Bracelets are also being sold by several BSM students to raise money for the Jablonski family.
