TWIN CITIES, MN — Carly Zucker teared up while discussing the impact that her husband's trade will have on her family on the radio Tuesday morning. On Wednesday night, the Minnesota Wild traded away Jason Zucker, a left wing who the team drafted back in 2010, to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In return, the Wild will get back Alex Galchenyuk, Calen Addison, and a conditional 2020 first-round draft pick.

"You guys this is going to be tough," Carly told her colleagues on the KFAN Power Trip morning show. "It's just way more emotional than I thought it would be. I think we all kind of knew it was coming."

"We love it here. The kids are here. It's home."

"It just changes a lot at home," Carly added. "It's hard to imagine doing life without him here. And he's gone, he left right away, and he won't be home again until after the season."

As the Athletic's Michael Russo noted last year, because Carly shares custody of her daughter, Sophia, with her ex-husband, she will stay in Minnesota. Jason and Carly have had two kids together.

Jason and Carly have been a Minnesota power couple. Carly works as a media professional and they both are well known for philanthropy.

In 2019, Jason Zucker won the King Clancy Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL player who best exemplifies leadership and gives back to their community.

Jason and Carly started a fundraising campaign in 2017 for the "Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio" at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. According to NHL.com, the space "allows children and their families to watch Wild games in a setting that simulates the experience of being at the game."
