City Of St. Louis Park: Mayor Jake Spano Appointed To National League Of Cities Race, Equity And Leadership Council

St. Louis Park Mayor Jake Spano has been appointed to serve on the National League of Cities (NLC) Race, Equity and Leadership (REAL) Council in 2022. Mayor Spano served as co-chair of the REAL Council in 2021 and had served as co-vice chair since 2019. The REAL Council encourages collaboration, networking and developing resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues around the nation to expand the best practices and case study library of local solutions, as well as crafting a systems-thinking framework to address racial inequities in our nation and here in St. Louis Park,” said Mayor Spano.

Jake Spano has served as mayor since 2016. He was first elected as mayor in 2015 following a four-year term as council member at large, then re-elected to a second term in 2019. He serves on the Southwest Light Rail Transit Corridor Management Committee and the executive committee for the Regional Council of Mayors and the Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and a co-founder of Minnesota Mayors Together.
