Dangerously High Winds Cause Power Outages In Twin Cities

Wind gusts ​as high as 40 mph have been reported in the Twin Cities metro area tonight.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Dangerously high wind gusts are causing power outages in Minnesota Tuesday night. Xcel Energy is reporting outages throughout the Twin Cities metro area.

A wind advisory currently covers much of central Minnesota, including Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, and Washington counties. Wind gusts as high as 40 mph have been reported through the National Weather Service tonight.

Outages are reportedly affecting 5,000 customers in the area, according to KARE 11.
