(UPDATED) Donovan McNabb Plays Ball in SLP

The former Vikings quarterback is in a recreational basketball league.

Twitter is abuzz over Donovan McNabb's return to the Minnesota sports scene.

No, the former Vikings signal-caller isn't returning to the Purple, nor is he getting a bench spot with the Timberwolves. But he is reportedly a member of a recreational basketball league in St. Louis Park.

Ultimate Hoops reports that McNabb, who played both basketball and football while at Syracuse University, donned his usual No. 5 and suited up for a team dubbed "Most Dominant Ever," which had its season opener Wednesday night at the local .

MDE squeaked past its opponent, 89-87. McNabb came off the bench and played 30 minutes, pouring in 14 points on 5-10 shooting. He added 10 rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.

McNabb played in an Arizona Ultimate Hoops league several years ago, averaging 23.9 ppg, 10.3 rpg and 4.5 ast in three seasons. Ultimate Hoops is a basketball entertainment company operated by Lifetime.

Unfortunately, yours truly had his own Wednesday night basketball league (it's in Eden Prairie, and word is Vikings announcer Paul Allen plays on one of the teams—how's that for a Purple connection?) to attend to, so I wasn't able to check out McNabb.
