Father of SLP High Student Who Died in Bike Crash Cautions Against Distracted Driving

Andrew Dudley died in April 2012 after being hit by a woman driving while talking on her cell phone.

The father of a St. Louis Park High School student who died in April 2012 when he was hit by a distracted driver spoke to teens Saturday at the AAA Center.

John Dudley's son, Andrew, died while biking from a church youth group meeting when he was hit by a woman driving and talking on her cell phone.

Dudley spoke Saturday about his son's bright smile and favorite red sweatshirt and warned listeners to keep their minds focused on the road.

"If your cell phone whistles, chirps, rings or buzzes, don't touch it," John Dudley said, according to KARE 11.  "The life you save maybe your own."

Dudley spoke at an event sponsored by AAA and Minnesotans For Safe Driving
