Man, 20, Sentenced To Prison In Deadly Plymouth Drag Race
The hit-and-run left a man and his dog dead.
PLYMOUTH, MN — A 20-year-old was sentenced to four years in prison Monday after he was convicted in a hit-and-run in Plymouth that left another man and his dog dead. The crash happened during a drag race, police said.
Jack Blaschke, of Delano, pleaded guilty to a single count of criminal vehicular homicide on Sept. 13.
State prosecutors asked the court for 57 months, while the defense requested 41 months. Judge Daniel Moreno sentenced Blaschke to 48-months in prison, which follows the presumptive guidelines.

On April 28, Plymouth police responded to the area of 17220 County Road 24 in Plymouth on a report of a man lying unconscious in a residential driveway. Witnesses told officers that a car hit the man and his dog, according to the criminal complaint.
The man was taken to North Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Blaschke had initiated a drag race just before 9:00 p.m., according to investigators. Blaschke pulled up to a red light at County Road 24, honked his horn three times at the car next to him, and indicated that he wanted to race, according to the criminal complaint.
Blaschke sped off — reaching over 70 mph in a 45 mph area— and struck the man and his dog, who were crossing the street, police said.
Blaschke fled the scene, according to authorities.
Upon being located by investigators, Blaschke admitted to hitting the man and his dog, and leaving the scene. He further told police that he did not return and went to a friend’s house instead, the complaint states.
