VIDEO: St. Louis Park Arbor Day Celebration a Blast for Kids
Youngsters learned how to plant a tree Saturday at the Westwood Hills Nature Center.
Despite a fairly steady drizzle Saturday morning, St. Louis Park's annual Earth and Arbor Day Celebration went on at the , where youngsters learned about nature and grooved to some live music.
The learning part of the event occurred outdoors and up close, as kids got to help plant new trees. The nature center's red-tailed hawk was also on display, and a nature center volunteer taught onlookers about the majestic bird.
Inside, the group Kidpower With Rachael played a number of fun, upbeat songs that had kids moving and grooving. A few of the youngsters even picked up shakers and made music of their own.

Arborist Manuel Jordan, who was helping people plant trees, said the whole event was about stimulating young minds.
"Just like these trees are the future of out forest, the kids are our future, too," he said.
