(UPDATED) St. Louis Park Police Officer Dies While on Duty
Mike Pollitz suffered cardiac arrest on Wednesday.

St. Louis Park police officer Mike Pollitz died while on duty Wednesday due to cardiac arrest, according to the police chief.
Pollitz was 37 and had been with the department since 2005.
In a statement, police chief John Luse said Pollitz suffered an "acute medical emergency" at around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday. From there, the condition deteriorated rapidly into cardiac arrest. Pollitz was rushed to the Hennepin County Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead there about two hours later.

"Our department and the Pollitz family are grateful for the thoughts and prayers of our community and all those who have expressed their love and compassion during this difficult time," Luse said in the statement.
Pollitz is survived by his wife, Ilana, and two young children. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A visitation will occur Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at with a service at 11:30 a.m.
