LOUIS PARK, MN — Hennepin County is in the planning phase of reconstructing County Road 5 — otherwise known as Minnetonka Boulevard — in St. Louis Park.A 2021 Minnesota Department of Transportation survey found that residents worry about traffic speeds along County Road 5. Residents would prefer to redirect traffic to Highway 7 to help reduce congestion, according to the study.The study also found that residents:<ul><li>Want better lighting and crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety</li><li>Want protected bike lanes</li><li>Say that the sidewalks are poorly maintained and don't feel safe</li></ul>Construction for the County Road 5 project is slated to begin in 2024. Residents can learn more by attending an open house on April 26 from 4 – 7 p.m. at St. Louis Park City Hall.
