The Star Tribune reports that a friend of 18-year-old Michael Swanson testified about how he met with Swanson on Nov. 15—the day the then-17-year-old allegedly killed Sheila Myers, 61, and Vicky Bowman-Hall, 47, in separate robbery attempts.

That friend, Danny Cegla, said he met Swanson in a park, where they smoked cigarettes and where Swanson showed him the gun he had stolen from his grandfather's cabin, the newspaper reports.

"You'll see me on the news," Swanson said, according to Cegla.

The trial in Carroll County, Iowa, is expected to resume today. Swanson also will stand trial in Lyon County later this month. Swanson faces first-degree murder and first-degree robbery charges in both counties. He is being tried as an adult.
