(VIDEO) A Rockin' Good Time at SLP Open House
The night was highlighted by live music and hands-on demos from city staff.
City government isn't always associated with "fun," but Wednesday's community open house put that notion to rest, at least for a night.
The event, held at the city's new , celebrated all things St. Louis Park, with free donuts, ice cream and root beer, as well as lively fun performance by The Whitesidewalls Rock 'n' Roll Revue.
Amid the food and music, residents got to learn about various city services and meet the staffers that help keep the city running. For kids, learning meant doing, as they could shoot a fire hose, pilot a mechanical crane, and crawl in a police car and a fire truck. Sparky the Fire Dog and Scruff McGuff were even there to put some smiles on the youngsters' faces.
