A day before the state's fishing opener, a group of students from worked with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to help stock a small St. Louis Park Lake.
The students put roughly 300 bluegills and 300 black crappies into Wolfe Lake, which is located near the .
"It was a lot of fun," said Groves Academy student Jen Berg. "I've never done this, so I was really excited."

Mark Nemeth, an urban fishing specialist with the DNR, said he hoped the students learned a lot about different fish species in the state, as well as safe fishing techniques. He also said he's excited to see the fishing season begin at Wolfe Lake, which is a part of the agency's Fishing in the Neighborhood program.
"We try to stock species here that create a variety of different fishing opportunities in St. Louis Park," Nemeth said.
