St. Louis Park’s will be celebrating three decades of scenic sunsets, changing colors and snowshoe hikes this weekend.
The 160-acre site—along with those who help keep it running—was recognized during Monday’s City Council meeting, as Mayor Jeff Jacobs proclaimed that Saturday will be the center's official 30th anniversary day.
Westwood Hills is open to the public daily, and features a number of trails that wind through woodlands and marshes. The nature center also features an interpretive center, which holds events for elementary classes and other groups.

Several council members added that they’re particularly fond of Westwood’s annual Halloween event, but Jacobs singled out another fall favorite.
“They make, frankly, some of the best maple syrup I’ve ever had,” the mayor said.

All of the things that make the nature center a St. Louis Park favorite will be celebrated Saturday during a free, family-friendly event that will feature outdoor
activities, live animal presentations, refreshments and puppet shows.
“It looks like it’ll be a beautiful day,” said Westwood manager Mark Oestreich, “so I encourage everyone to come out.”
