2-Day Standoff In St. Michael Ends As Police Shoot Suspect: Officials
Brandon Gardas, 39, was flown to a local hospital after he was shot Wednesday night. Police say he fired at them during a two-day standoff.
ST. MICHAEL, MN β A standoff between police and a St. Michael man ended Wednesday night after almost two days, according to Wright County officials.
The man, who police identified as Brandon Gardas, was shot βbut is alive,β officials said in a message posted at 9 p.m. Wednesday to the countyβs Facebook page.
Gardas was flown to a local hospital for treatment, officials said, adding no officers were injured during the standoff.

Wright County Sheriff Sean Deringer said deputies were called to Gardasβ home near St. Michael Parkway and Kalland Avenue Northeast around 12:37 a.m. Tuesday after someone saw a man with a rifle arguing with a woman.
Gardas, who had warrants out for his arrest, fired several shots at police during the standoff that lasted more than 40 hours, Deringer said.

Residents near Gardasβ home were asked to evacuate "due to the volatile nature" of the situation, and members of the public were told to stay away from the area.
The standoff prompted police to shut down several local roads, including County Road 15.
Deringer is expected to hold a news conference Thursday morning to provide more details about the standoff.
