Albertville Restaurant’s Brunch Menu, Frittata Get High Praise
The mushroom frittata is one of many enticing dishes on the restaurant's brunch menu that made it hard to order, a Star Tribune writer said.

ALBERTVILLE, MN — An Albertville restaurant’s “deliciously light” brunch fare scored high marks last week from a local food writer.
The Star Tribune’s Nicole Hvidsten detailed her recent experience at The Hen & The Hog, where she sampled a caramel pecan roll and the wild mushroom frittata.
The frittata is just one of many enticing dishes on the restaurant’s brunch menu that made it hard to order, Hvidsten wrote in Star Tribune's list of "The 5 best things our food writers ate in the Twin Cities area this week."

The Hen & The Hog’s frittata features “plenty of meaty mushrooms” tossed with spinach, egg whites, garlic and Parmesan, Hvidsten wrote. It’s served with a “snappy” mixed green salad, which makes for a “deliciously light” brunch, she wrote.

Hvidsten said her only regret was visiting The Hen & The Hog on a Sunday, when the restaurant is reserved for brunch only. But she plans to return to try the Minnesota wontons, a mixture of pickles, pastrami and cream cheese that’s deep-fried in a wonton wrapper.
The Hen & The Hog was opened in December 2020 by Becky and Matt Taus and Ben and Amanda Frank at 5262 Kyler Avenue NE, Suite 111, in Albertville.
The Hen & The Hog is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and serves brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s also open for dinner from 3-9 p.m. Saturday.
