Buffalo Groom-to-be Injured, Four Killed in Wisconsin Boating Accident

It was supposed to be the happiest weekend of Leo Pohl's life. Instead, tragedy unfolded on the water when two boats collided, killing his brother and two other groomsmen.

Four men were killed and three others were injured on the Chippewa River when a speedboat collided with a pontoon-like watercraft some time Friday night.

The pontoon was carrying members of a wedding party, including groom-to-be Leo Pohl, 29, of Buffalo. Pohl's brother, Luke, was killed in the accident. He was 25.

Also killed were the driver of the speedboat, a 50-year-old man of nearby Eau Claire. Two others on the pontoon, an Eau Claire man and a Brooklyn Park man, were also killed in the accident.
