A woman has died after hitting a tree head-on near the intersection of Barthel Industrial Boulevard and 59th Street Northeast in Albertville Tuesday morning.
The driver, who was the lone occupant of a late-model Chevrolet Malibu with Minnesota plates, left the roadway near the intersection, hopped a curb and ran head-on into a maple tree on the property of Highland Bank.

"I was inside, and you could literally feel the impact in my office," said Torrey Quellan, bank manager. "I thought our landscapers were outside working and that something dropped. Then I came out and saw the car."
Wright County Sheriff's deputies, Minnesota Highway Patrol officers and Albertville Fire and Rescue assisted on the scene. AFD crews used the "jaws of life" to extricate the woman from the vehicle.
She was placed on a backboard and transported to Mercy Hospital via Allina Ambulance, according to Deputy Josh Hinton of the Wright County Sheriff's Department. She later died of her injuries.
It's believed she was still traveling at high speeds when she hit the tree. There were no skids prior to the curb, and debris was lying in the Highland Bank parking lot, more than 100 feet away from the tree.
The driver was wearing her seatbelt, and an airbag in the car did deploy.
The woman's name will be released by the sheriff's department when family is notified.
Hinton and other officers reconstructed the crash and will have a report on the incident. It remains under investigation.
