Husom To Retire After A Decade As Wright County Commissioner

Commissioner Christine Husom has represented Buffalo, Annandale and South Haven, as well as several townships, since 2012.

WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — Wright County Commissioner Christine Husom announced Tuesday that she plans to retire Dec. 31 at the end of her current term.

Husom has represented District 1 on the Wright County board for a decade. District 1 includes precincts in Buffalo, Annandale and South Haven, as well as Albion, Buffalo, Chatham, Corrina and Southside townships.

Huson said she believes the Wright County board has “made great strides” since she joined in 2012, highlighting a “more level tax rate,” increased transparency, upgraded technology and more funding for roads and bridges as major accomplishments.

Husom also noted the county’s push to build new facilities that are more energy efficient and provide better workspaces for employees.

She said Wright County was “blessed to be in the right place at the right time for our building projects,” adding the county saved $6 million in interest by refinancing the Law Enforcement Center.

“My goal as a commissioner was to help constituents and to make judicious decisions that best served our citizens and taxpayers, in my district and all of Wright County,” Husom said in a statement announcing her retirement. “Serving as a Wright County commissioner has been a great honor.”

Annandale native and small business owner Tina Diedrick is running to succeed Husom as the commissioner representing Wright County’s first district. She served four terms as mayor of Norwood Young America in Carver County.

Wright County Commissioner Daleiden To Retire At The End Of 2022

Wright County Commissioner Mark Daleiden is also set to retire at the end of 2022 following his third term in office. Daleiden represents District 3, which includes precincts in St. Michael, Otsego and Dayton.
