Knights Baseball Squad Captures MBT State Championship

A first for the community, the U14 squad continues to have an impressive season.

The STMA Knights 14AAA Boys baseball team earned the Minnesota Baseball Tournaments State Baseball Championship in Lakeville last weekend, a first for any STMA squad.

The boys played a total of seven games with a tournament record of 6-0-1. The team entered the tournament seeded fourth out of 36 teams, and battled clubs from Blaine (5-3), Chaska (3-2), Rosemount (7-7), Waite Park (7-5), Minnetonka Black (4-1), Burnsville (3-1) and faced the Rochester Raptors in the championship game, winning by a final score of 8-6. 

Throughout the tournament, the Knights displayed solid defense, strong offense, impressive pitching and consistent teamwork. The win marks the first time that any team from the STMA Youth Baseball program has won the MBT State Tournament.

The fifth tournament of the season for the Knights, the championshiop continued an impressive record of three first-place finishes and two second-place finishes. 

The Knights U14AAA club also won the Blaine Classic, the Big Lake Classic and earned respectable second place trophies at the Gopher State Mid-Summer Classic as well as the STMA Youth Baseball Tournament.

The team will wrap up their season this weekend at the Gopher State Tournament of Champions in Andover.  Their current overall season record is 32-10-1.
