Man Shot At Police During Ongoing Standoff In St. Michael: Sheriff

Residents in the area near the standoff were asked to evacuate "due to the volatile nature" of the situation, Sheriff Deringer said.


ST. MICHAEL, MN β€” A man who has several warrants out for his arrest shot at officers during an ongoing standoff that started Tuesday evening in St. Michael, according to authorities.

Wright County deputies were called to a home near St. Michael Parkway and Kalland Avenue Northeast by people who saw a man with a rifle arguing with a woman, Sheriff Sean Deringer said Wednesday morning.

The standoff started around 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to various reports. Deputies were still at the home as of 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, Deringer said.

Residents near the home are being asked to evacuate β€œdue to the volatile nature” of the situation, and members of the public should stay away from the area, Deringer said.

County Road 35 is among several local roads that are closed due to the standoff, according to the sheriff.
