Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Anni has endured three years of medical challenges that has led to three major surgeries. Due to this condition (hypermobility of the joints) she is unable to continue playing hockey or engage in any sport activities. Anni has endured hours and hours of PT before and after each surgery and has endured a great deal of pain but never complains about what she has to do to get through each issue she is facing. However, this has not stopped her from another love of her life which is cooking, baking and volunteering. Anni bakes for the clinic employees where her Mom works as well as for the Minneapolis Fire Department where her friend works. Most of all she bakes and cooks for her family. She has been a dedicated volunteer in school and called upon by the Principal and teachers to do special projects for the school that allows her to demonstrate her creative side. She also was a WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) leader in Middle School. Anni's character and maturity is far beyond her 15 years. She had her sites on being a pediatric surgeon when she was in 7th grade but due to her medical condition she has had to refocus her ambitions. Still focusing on the medical world, her sites are now on being a teacher in a hospital setting for children needing long term care. Her flexible thinking always amazes me. When a wall is put up she figures out an alternative. Anni has been at my side as I struggle with cancer issues. She is always there to be with me, always asking if there is anything she can do to help. Anni maintains a straight A average in school and is hardly waiting to turn 16 so she can drive herself to school, volunteer opportunities and doctor appointments, etc. She is a one in a million child...very resilient, with a heart of gold!
