Polar Plunge In Wright Co. Raises $75K For Special Olympics MN

WRIGHT COUNTY, MN — Almost 300 people from around Wright County teamed up last weekend to raise more than $75,000 to support Special Olympics in Minnesota.

The sixth annual Buffalo Polar Plunge saw 290 people jump into the bone-chilling Buffalo Lake on March 12. Plungers raised $75,888, meaning the event has now raised more than $350,000 since its inception.

For last year’s plunge, 105 people raised $32,712, according to the Polar Plunge organization.

A team of employees from Snap Install, Inc., raised the most of any single group that participated in the Buffalo Polar Plunge, adding $11,803 to the fundraising total.

The Buffalo Stampede Special Olympics Minnesota delegation raised $7,038, while the Buffalo Police Polar Plunge Unit brought in $6,185.

A team from Westwood Elementary raised $2,308 for the Polar Plunge, and the Buffalo Girls Hockey team raised $2,268, according to the official website.
