Quiet Summer Turns Hectic For First Responders in St. Michael, Albertville

Sheriff Joe Hagerty had called the 2011 summer a "quiet one," until the calendar flipped to July. Both fire departments and his Wright County Sheriff's Department were on the run over the last week.

The weather got hotter, and the calls started flying for St. Michae-Albertville first responders as the calendar turned to July. 

With its second full week of calls, the sheriff's department responded to several accidents in the area, including a fatal accident in Albertville Tuesday, July 19.

Albertville Fire Department (AFD) responded to weather spotting due to severe storms in the area at 7:12 P.M..

AFD responded medical emergency at 8:52 P.M. on the 11000 block of 72nd Court NE.  A male party was having trouble breathing.

July 13

AFD responded medical emergency at 6:59 P.M. on the 5600 block of Kahler Drive NE.  A 10 week old was having trouble breathing.

July 14

 The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a medical call in the 13000th block of 59th Street NE.  There was a 13 month old with a high fever and having a seizure.

AFD responded medical emergency at 5:34 P.M. on the 7800 block of 50th Street NE.  A male party was having chest pains.

Justin Anthony Longfield, 26, of Albertville was arrested in St Michael on an apprehension and detention order from Wright County. 

July 15

The St. Michael Fire Department was dispatched to a fire call in the area of Main Street N and Heights Road NW.  The call was cancelled en-route due to smoke being from a recreational fire. 

David Charles Hogan, 62, of Otsego was arrest in Otsego on a Wright County Warrant for 5th degree controlled substance violation. 

The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a weather call in the 400th block of Creekside Drive SE.  A tree had blown down and was blocking the roadway.

AFD responded medical emergency at 8 a.m. on the 14000 block of 62nd Street.  A male party had fallen.

July 16

AFD responded to a vehicle rollover at 4:02 p.m. on interstate 94 near exit 201. There were only minor injuries.

AFD responded to an accident with injuries at 10:07 p.m. on 57th and County Road 19.  Several people were transported with minor injuries.

July 17

The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a gas leak in the 12000th block of 42nd Street NE.  A gas tank was overpressure and vented off.

July 19

The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a fire call on Interstate 94. There was a vehicle on fire. 

Albertville Fire responded to a fatal accident near Highland Bank at 9:50 a.m. 

July 20

The St. Michael Fire Department responded to a fire call in the 100th block of Central Avenue W.  Wood chips had ignited in the playground area.

The St. Michael Fire Department was dispatched to a medical call in the 11000th block of 46th Circle NE.  The call was cancelled en-route.

 

The sheriff’s department  reported 35 Property Damage Accidents, two Personal Injury Accidents, nine hit-and-run accidents and one car vs.deer accident. 

There were 15 arrests for DWI, 14 Underage Consumption arrests and 43 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations issued this week.
