St. Michael Elementary Kids Celebrate Kindness

Students at the district's central elementary school earned free frozen treats and a visit from the Knights' mascot for good deeds done throughout the year.

students were in a frenzy last week as the teachers and staff called everyone into the gym/cafeteria space for a speciall all-school assembly.

Students from the school, which houses first grade through fourth, were set to receive a special treat for all the good deeds they had done throughout the school year.

The staff at STME recognizes students for acts of kindness, honor and respect for fellow students and teachers shown throughout the year. This year, according to teacher K.C. Solum, the kids did enough to send the Knight Mascot more than 26,000 miles (a certain number of miles is awarded for each act).

"That's more than enough to send our Knight around the globe," Solum said, as he was met by cheers loud enough to match the noise of a jet engine.

As a tip of the cap to the kids, they were greeted by the Knight mascot himself (dutifully protrayed by senior Brock Green). The kids also received treats from Dairy Queen, and gave the Knight a hug or high five on their way outisde to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
