St. Michael Kids Set up Lemonade Stand in Honor of Wounded Warriors

On the heels of the deadliest day in Afghanistan for U.S. troops, a local family with military ties did what they could to help out.

After hearing of the tragic helicopter crash in Afghanistan, one local family wondered what they could do to lend a hand.

Michelle LeMonds and her children decided a lemonade stand would work, with a beautiful weekend in store and plenty of people out and about enjoying St. Michael Daze and Knights and other local activities.

LeMonds, a local photographer, writes:

"My kids made a lemonade sale with all profits benefitting the Wounded Warriors foundation, an organization that benefits soldiers’ families who either lose their dad in battle or helps a family after their parent returns with a life changing injury.

"They served different treats each day, and they raised more than $200 (thanks to some special contributions).

"The military is near and dear to their hearts. Their dad has been active duty, called away for a deployment in the past, and is still a reservist.

"After the tragedy of losing 31 Special Forces troops, the kids wanted to help. We know what it’s like to have your dad gone, and hoping and praying he will return.  We can also imagine how terrible it would be to get the news that he isn’t coming home. This loss is so HUGE, and so sad."
