St. Michael Photographer Earns Spot on Capture Minnesota

Shawn O'Neill fulfilled two dreams with one trip to Walnut Grove. Check out his amazing photo.

A local shutterbug's eye has landed him on "Capture Minnesota," a collection of distinctly Minnesota images collected by Twin Cities Public Television (TPT).

Shawn writes:

"My name is Shawn O'Neill and I have been a photographer since 1992. On a trip with my wife to Walnut Grove, MN to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum, as we were going through the buildings, I found this image.

"I shot this photograph in color and change it monochrome (B&W) to give it an 'old time' feel.

"I always have had a special place for that simpler time and the story of Laura Ingalls Wilder I really had a connection with this photograph because of that time and the history.

"While searching the internet I found that tpt (Channel 2 ) was putting together a book called 'Capture Minnesota,' which [consisted of images] voted on by other photographers that explores the best of Minnesota in photos. I had submitted five images to captureminnesota.com.

"I really did it to see what people thought of my photographs. There we over 100,000 images submitted, and the best 200 got into the book. I didn't get any money or prizes but I didn't expect [any]. I just always wanted to be published in some way for my photography."

Congratulations to Shawn, and the book can be picked up at various stores around Minnesota, including Barnes and Noble.
