St. Michael Swimmers Complete Spectacular Turnaround

After a tough season last year, their first swim in Class AA, the St. Michael-Albertville boys' swim team wasn't picked my many to do much in their sophomore season at the Class AA level.

However, eight swimmers and one diver qualified for state and 10 school records were broken as the Knights boys swim and dive team swam to a third place finish in at the Section 8-2A meet, completing a dream season for this bunch of swimmers. 

The Knights finished the year undefeated in dual action in the pool, topping Buffalo back on Feb. 2 for a Mississippi 8 Conference Championship, the school's first in boys' swimming. 

They not only matched the girls' team effort, but topped it, winning the conference outright.

This weekend, things kept rolling. Ten races, including a handful of individual performances, will now go on the wall at the as team records.

And head coach Tom Guillou was named Section 8AA Coach of the Year by his peers, to top it off.

The swimmers and diver will compete at the State AA Swim Meeet set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

500 Freestyle - Cole Haeska (12th place, new school record*), Will Gallagher 14th Place.
