St. Michael's Boys of Summer Off to 5-0 Start
The St. Michael Saints have started the season on a roll, with wins over two division rivals.

The St. Michael Saints Amateur Baseball Club returns to action this summer in St. Michael at the Rec Center.
The Saints are a member of the North Star League and continue to compete at the Class B level.Â
St. Michael's nine won their division last year, as they have four out of the last five seasons, and finished one game short of the state tournament. They are hoping to make a similar run this summer.

St. Michael returns a lineup that is mixed with veterans and also some young, exciting players. They are led by returning MVP Nick Volkmann, who led the division in HRs and RBIs, as well as former MVPs Chris Volkmann, Mike Freske and Kyle Krzmarzick. Travis Enger and Dane Carlson will return with another year of college under their belt and are expected to contribute to the offense. The pitching staff is led by Brian Wurdeman, who carried a division leading 1.66 ERA last season. Blaine Barthel and Jared Dehmer are also expected to greatly contribute on the mound after a year of college.Â
Veteran Scott Lekatz will retire after twenty years of wearing the Saints’ colors.Â

The squad has jumped out to a 5-0 start, winning four games at home and one on the road (at Anoka).
That's included a pair of division wins, including victories over Albertville (7-4 back on May 18) and Hutchinson (a 13-10 slugfest Saturday afternoon). The Saints also have wins over Buffalo and Dealno - the latter coming in walk-off fashion.Â
The Saints are led by player/manager Mike Freske, in his fifth year in that role. Come on down to the Rec Center and support your local nine.
