STMA Girls Basketball Team To Play For State Title Saturday Night

ST. MICHAEL, MN — The St. Michael-Albertville High School girls basketball team is one win from its first state title since 2009 after taking down Roseville 73-57 on Thursday night in the semifinals.

STMA will take on Hopkins in the Class AAAA state championship game, which starts at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Knights will be out for revenge after they lost by 40 points to Hopkins toward the end of the regular season.

Junior Tessa Johnson led the Knights’ offense with 25 points, while recording nine rebounds and four assists, while sophomore Ja’Kahla Craft scored 18 points, according to the statistics from the Minnesota State High School League.

Senior Emma Miller added 13 points as she passed the 1,000-point career milestone during the game, the MSHSL reported.

The STMA girls basketball team last played in a state championship game in 2009, when it won the Class AAA title, according to the MSHSL. The Knights also won the Class AA girls basketball state championship in 2001.
