The 150th Wright County Fair opens a week from today (July 21) and several Wright County departments will have booths or tents set up to discuss and promote the work done by their offices and departments.

The Wright County Highway Department booth will have giveaways for kids, including coloring books and crayons, truck theme stickers, as well as free water and candy. Among its displays at the fair will be swing-away mailbox supports, a snowplow from the county fleet, a sewer jetter trailer and a bobcat with an 18-inch wheel saw asphalt cutter. Under the tent display will be the department’s construction maps for upcoming projects, the new Wright County Highway Map where people can poke a pin in where they live and other information about the department/transportation information.

The County Attorney’s Office will be represented by County Attorney Brian Lutes, who will be on hand at various times during the fair to meet fairgoers and answer questions they may have about his office. In addition, there will be numerous brochures available dealing with topics including how the County Attorney’s Office operates, Toward Zero Deaths, MEADA (Mentorship, Education and Drug Awareness, Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center, Central Minnesota Mental Health Center, VINE (Victim Information Notification Everyday, suicide prevention, Wright Mental Health and Rivers of Hope.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office will have several of the tools of their trade on display, including boats, snowmobiles and ATVs.

Wright County Public Health will focus on gathering input from community members in an interactive activity for the department’s Community Health Assessment. For those with babies, a Lactation Station will be available to pump, feed and/or change diapers. Public Health will also be offering the one-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine from noon to 6 p.m. daily, as well as providing Child & Teen Check-up giveaways through a Spin-the-Wheel game.

Wright County Veterans Services will be at the fair all five days from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Octagon Building. The department will have information about Federal and State Veterans Benefits to include: VA Veteran Disability Claims, VA Survivors Benefits, VA Healthcare, VA Burial Benefits, Education (GI-BILL/MN GI-BILL), MN State Benefits, MN State Veterans Home and MN State Veterans Cemeteries.

Record crowds are expected for the 150th Wright County Fair and the county departments with a presence at the fair encourage residents to stop at their booths to see what they have to offer.
