Wright County Included In Two DNR Fire Warnings

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has included Wright County in a pair of fire danger warning areas – one for today (June 18) and one that will last until Wright County gets enough rain to be considered out of the danger zone for fires to start and spread quickly.

With no rain in the forecast today with warm weather, low humidity and wind gusts, Wright County is one of 32 Minnesota counties under a Red Flag Warning. The DNR issues a Red Flag Warning for areas experiencing critical weather conditions ideal for starting a wildfire. Under a Red Flag Warning, it is recommended to hold off all burning and to closely monitor bonfires and fire pits. The Red Flag Warning expires at 8 p.m. tonight.

The other area of concern is that Wright County is now included in the “Very High” level of fire danger. Earlier this week, Wright County remained under the “High” designation for potential fire danger, but was shifted to "Very High” due to a continued lack of rain and high temperatures in the area.
