• Lowndes Co. Supervisors to begin collecting 2% tax on short-term rentals (wcbi.com) — Short-term rentals in Lowndes County, including those in Columbus, will soon add a new 2% tax, putting Airbnb- and VRBO-style stays in line with local hotels that already collect it for tourism. County supervisors, working with Columbus’ city attorney, plan to adopt an enforcing ordinance within about 30 days, so hosts and visitors should expect slightly higher bills soon.
