Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- A 1-year-old has died months after being found unconscious in a daycare swimming pool. The Police Department has confirmed that the child has died after being on life-support since October. The mother has filed a lawsuit claiming that the children were left outside unattended with access to the pool. The victim was reported missing for ten minutes before the care workers found him. The Health Department has since fined the daycare for failing to comply with numerous childcare regulations. The case was taken to court yesterday to determine whether criminal charges will be made in the case. (WLOX)
- Warren County deputies arrest a suspect after a multi-jurisdictional chase from Warren County to Jackson. The chase began Monday night after 7:30 when police spotted a truck that was reported stolen from a loves truck stop in the Flowers Community. Police engaged when the suspect did not stop chasing them through the City of Clinton, who assisted Warren County. The chase finally ended at a Wendy's on Highway 18 in Jackson after the truck ran into the sign. There has been no mention of anyone being injured in the chase, but the suspect will be charged with auto theft and felony eluding. (WAPT Jackson)
- Jackson PD is investigating an overnight shooting on Tuesday. The shooting happened on Creston Avenue around 5:30 a.m., where a man was shot at a different location but was found on Creston. When the news crew arrived, the man was being loaded into an ambulance. The severity of his injuries is unknown.
