  1. The Mississippi Comic Con is returning to Jackson! The event features celebrity Q&As, professional cosplayers, photo ops, and more. Some of this year’s guest celebrities include Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future), Sean Astin (Stranger Things, Lord of The Rings, The Goonies), Bret Hart (WWE Hall of Fame), and Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk)! Mark your calendars for Jun. 24-25, 2023 at the Mississippi Trade Mart. Tickets range from $30-$65 and kids 10 and under attend free with adult admission! (WJTV)
  2. A Jackson fifth grader could have his artwork featured on the Google homepage! Benjamin Cummins from Ida B. Wells Apac had his doodle ‘Honey Bees’ selected from thousands of entries to compete in the Doodle for Google Competition. Benjamin says “I wasn’t really expecting to win it because all the high schoolers were in it.” The five finalists will be announced by Google in May, and the winner will have their doodle featured as the Google logo on the homepage for a day, along with other prizes! 3. A Jackson skatepark known as ‘The Slab’ has been drawing skaters from far and wide. The site is a 16,000 square foot slab of concrete located under the railroad tracks on North Mill Street that contains obstacles, pipes, and cracks, helping skaters improve their abilities. The skatepark features add to the character of the park and give local skaters a sense of community and pride for their spot. What was once a Jitney Jungle supermarket distribution center is now affectionately known to skaters across the region. (Clarion Ledger)
