  1. On Wednesday, May 17, attorneys for the federal government, Mississippi, and the state's capital city agreed to request to delay litigation about water violations in Jackson for six months. The complaint was filed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency after tests revealed Jackson was not meeting standards for providing reliable drinking water. If Judge Henry Wingate approves the six-month stay, the second such delay order, it will be extended until Nov. 29. (Clarion Ledger)
  2. On Tuesday, May 16, a neighbor helped a mother and son escape from a fire at the Village Apartments on Raymond Road in Jackson. Enfinity McCoy said she heard the scream of the mother and child when she got home from work. McCoy and another individual named Jamya helped the child get out of the building, followed by the mother. Jackson firefighters said no one was seriously injured from the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. (WJTV)
  3. According to Jackson residents, Keele Street is riddled with huge potholes — one of them measuring six feet wide — that are causing problems for drivers. The potholes cause damage to the cars, burst tires, and cause accidents when people swerve to avoid them. Residents have called on city officials to repave the road, but it still has not been fixed. One resident, Verlenzia Williams, said, "I mean, it's constant. You can’t even go the speed limit because there’s potholes." (WJTV)

The large slab of concrete was reportedly once a Jitney Jungle supermarket distribution center on North Mill Street. Just like The Slab, each skatepark "is different when they’re built by locals. They each possess their own sense of community and pride for their spot." (Clarion Ledger)
