• Amick Farms expanding operations in Laurel (wdam.com) — A major poultry plant expansion is bringing nearly 200 new jobs and a $74.5 million investment to Amick Farms’ Laurel facility, significantly boosting the local economy. State leaders and Mayor Johnny Magee say the increased processing capacity and hiring over the next three years will strengthen career opportunities and support families across Laurel and Jones County.
   

• Jones County supervisors working to bring Boys and Girls Club program to the county (wdam.com) — Jones County supervisors have approved up to $25,000 to help launch a Boys and Girls Club program, with the Laurel School District being considered as the host location pending school board approval. County leaders say they’ll still need financial support from the City of Laurel, which plans to discuss the proposal in January. The program would serve both city and county students after school.
