• Ridgeland Could End Water Fluoridation. Experts Warn It Would Compromise Public Health (mississippifreepress.org) — Ridgeland leaders are formally exploring whether to permanently end fluoride in the city’s drinking water, a move dentists and health officials warn could worsen residents’ dental health and raise long-term costs. The Board of Aldermen has started the state’s discontinuation process, triggering months of education, public notice, and potential hearings before any final decision affecting thousands of local water customers.
   

• Mississippi first responders want separate pension plan after changes to PERS (mississippitoday.org) — Ridgeland’s police chief is warning that upcoming changes to Mississippi’s Public Employee Retirement System could make it even harder to recruit and keep first responders. Alongside a New Albany fire chief, he’s urging lawmakers to create a separate pension plan tailored to the high‑stress, lower‑pay realities of police, fire, and similar jobs before the March changes take effect.
