• New plaza, roundabout planned for MSU campus (cdispatch.com) — Drivers in Starkville who use Mississippi State’s campus should prepare for major detours as Hardy Road closes Monday for a new pedestrian-friendly plaza and a roundabout project shuts part of Stone Boulevard starting Dec. 17. The multimillion-dollar upgrades, funded by private, university, and federal dollars, will last into summer, with alternate routes posted around the west side of campus.
   

• Robert St. John talks Starkville flavor, food memories and holiday cheer (cdispatch.com) — Starkville readers recently welcomed chef and author Robert St. John to the Starkville-Oktibbeha County Public Library, where he shared food memories, holiday stories, and affection for local restaurants like Oby’s, Harvey’s, and Two Brothers. He hinted he’s considered opening a restaurant here, while discussing his new “Mississippi Christmas” cookbook and how shared meals connect communities across Mississippi.
   

• Carole Reagan Thomas (thetylertowntimes.org) — An 86-year-old retired educator, Carole Reagan Thomas, passed away Dec. 3 at The Goldton in Starkville, leaving behind a large, loving family. Remembered for her big personality and impact on Columbus students, she was a devoted church member and family matriarch. Friends can share condolences with her family online.
