Gardeners Tour 2 Concord Backyards
Gardeners came to the Affton area Sunday as part of a St. Louis-wide tour.
Sunday afternoon St. Louis gardeners tours 37 county and city backyards that promote sustainable living. It was the third annual Sustainable Backyard Tour.
Two backyards in Concord were on the tour. One featured solar power, geothermal HVAC, a bubbling fountain, bee hives, a 430 gallon rain barrel, as well as gardens in raised beds.
The other gardener enjoys using reclaimed materials to construct a chicken coop, raised beds, and areas to sit and enjoy it all. He calls it "the totem of the opossum," being a generalist and an opportunist.
