Affton joins several St. Louis County districts in the Youth Apprenticeship Accelerator, which starts recruiting students in February and aims to place them with companies like Beckwood Press as early as this summer.

• Red Cup Rebellion Solidarity Surges, New Union Baristas Join Historic ULP Strike Amid Holiday Rush (indybay.org) — Affton’s unionized Starbucks baristas have joined a growing nationwide unfair labor practice strike, part of the “Red Cup Rebellion” pressuring the company for better pay, staffing, and scheduling. Backed by major unions and more than 180 elected officials, workers and allies are organizing picket lines and urging customers to honor the “No Contract, No Coffee” pledge until a fair contract is reached.
