South St. Louis Man Stole $4,200 in Stereo Equipment With Fake Credit Card, Police Say

A man used a fake credit card to buy $4,182 worth of stereo equipment from stores in Manchester and South County, Manchester Police said.

Erskine Yarbrough, of the 300 block of Fillmore Street in South St. Louis, was charged Monday with two counts of felony stealing.

St. Louis County Police said Yarbrough bought a DVD receiver, two subwoofers and other stereo equipment from the South County Audio Express, 5616 South Lindbergh, in the Concord area, with a fraudulent prepaid credit card on Aug. 20. The equipment was valued at $2,180.

Manchester Police said Yarbrough then used the same card on Aug. 21 to get $2,003 in stereo equipment at the Manchester 

Yarbrough told police he received a credit card from someone named Dave, whom he said worked at the South County location. He said after the purchases, he gave most of the equipment to Dave and kept some of the equipment for himself.

Yarbrough also faces burglary and theft charges in the city of St. Louis. He is being held at the St. Louis City Justice Center. Bail was set at $5,000 for the South County theft and $5,000 for the Manchester theft charges.
