Missouri Tax Free Weekend: Shrewsbury Opts Out
Helpful information if you are buying school supplies, clothing or electronics as the kids head back to school.

Just a reminder for back to school shipping:Β Missouri's back to school sales tax holidayΒ starts Aug. 2!
Here are five pieces of information on theΒ Missouri Department of Revenue's websiteΒ that might help if you plan to buy back-to-school items for the upcoming school year.
- The sales tax holiday in Missouri isΒ Friday, Aug. 2 - Sunday, Aug. 4.
- Some items, including clothing, school supplies and computers are exempt from sales tax for this time period.Β
- You can find aΒ list of cities hereΒ that have opted out of participating in the tax-free weekend. Shrewsbury is on the list, so you'll pay the taxes shopping there.Β
- St. Louis County is participating in the sales tax holiday. Find countiesΒ which opted out here.
- The sales tax exemption is limited to:
- ClothingΒ β any article having a taxable value of $100 or less
- School suppliesΒ β not to exceed $50 per purchase
- Computer softwareΒ β taxable value of $350 or less
- Personal computersΒ β not to exceed $3,500
- Computer peripheral devicesΒ β not to exceed $3,500
