County Councilman: Thrift Store Not "Good Fit" for Affton

St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger, who opposes the relocation of a thrift store from Shrewsbury to Affton, says he wants what's best for his hometown, according to a recent St. Louis Post-Dispatch article.

The owner of the Value Village thrift store in Kenrick Plaza is trying to have the store moved toΒ the former Hanneke Hardware, 10042 Gravois Rd.,Β Post-DispatchΒ reports. (The Shrewsbury Board of AldermenΒ  recentlyΒ approved a Walmart SupercenterΒ in Kenrick Plaza.)

"Affton is poised to join other inner-ring suburbs like Brentwood, Maplewood and Richmond Heights...,” he told St. Louis Post-Dispatch, adding he doesn'tΒ feel the resale shop is a "good fit for the area."
