Arnold Library Offers Passport Service

Most people bring their $165 fees to post offices to obtain their passports.

Arnold and Jefferson County residents can also go to the Jefferson County Library to obtain their U.S. passports.

Most people go to the U.S. Post Office to obtain a passport. People needing a passport within two weeks must travel to Chicago to obtain the document quickly, says the U.S. State Department website.

Between 4-6 weeks is needed to process and issue a passport.

To obtain a passport at Arnold or Northwest branches of the Jefferson County Library, people should plan to spend about 90 minutes at the library to complete the needed forms.

The following passport applicaiton guidelines are posted on the library's website:

1. An unsigned completed application in dark black ink.

2. Proof of U.S. citizenship-such as a state certified birth certificate, a certificate of naturalization, a certificate of citizenship or a previous valid U.S. passport. Photocopies of these documents will not be accepted.

3. Proof of Identity- a photo or physical description with a signature, such as a driver's license or previous passport.

4.One color photo that meets the U.S. Passport Agency specifications outlined on page 2 of the Application and that has been taken within the last 6 months. 

5. For the renewal of a passport that was obtained for a child under age 16, both the passport and a state certified birth certificate are required.

6. If under 16, both parents must be present. See form for details.

Do not sign the application until requested  by the person administering the oath, the library's website says.

The Arnold Branch of the Jefferson County Library is at 1701 Missouri State Road. The Northwest Branch is at 5680 State Rd. PP in High Ridge, MO.
