Arnold Population is Older, More People Live Alone, U.S. Census Reveals

Age and household data from the 2010 census released early Thursday morning.

U.S. Census data released early Thursday morning show the City of Arnold’s population is aging, there are fewer children and that more people are living alone.

The latest release of census data, which was taken last year, provided information about the number of people by age, gender and household information.

Some interesting factoids about Arnold’s population in 2010 compared to the year 2000

Within the overall Arnold population:

  • Almost a 14 percent decline, or 675 fewer, in the number of people between the ages of 30-44 years
  • There are 1,562 more people, or a 22 percent increase, in people older than 45 years
  • 228 fewer children, or a 4 percent decline, ages 19 years or younger 

Arnold’s male population:

  • 763 more men, or a 24 percent increase, are 45 years or older
  • About 22 percent fewer men, or 371 men, are between the ages of 35-44 years old
  • There are 169 fewer boys, or almost 11 percent less, between the ages of 5-14 years old
  • Men are 48.7 percent of Arnold’s population
  • The median age for an Arnold man is about 37 years old, 

Arnold’s female population:

  • Women are 51.3 percent Arnold’s population
  • The average Arnold woman is almost 41 years old
  • There are nearly 7 percent fewer girls, or 89 few girls, in Arnold
  •  336 fewer women, or almost 14 percent less, between the ages of 30-44 years
  • A 20 percent increase, or 799 more women, age 45 or older

And some interesting consequences, when comparing Arnold households last year to the year 2000:

  • 79 percent more householders, or 852, live alone in Arnold
  • There are 1,018 more non-family households, a 74 percent increase. Family households have two people related by birth, marriage or adoption. Same sex married couples are not included.
  • 49 percent increase, or 343, in female householders without a husband present
  • Male households without a wife present increased 119, or 39 percent
