Arnold Woman Sentenced on Fraud Charges

The woman used her employer's checks to pay for personal credit card bills and expenses, the U.S. Attorney's Office says.

Rebecca Wagstaff, 58, of Arnold was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for defrauding her employer of $126,822.

She must also repay her former employer, West County Opthamology, Inc., in St. Louis County, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release issued Friday morning.

The news release said Wagstaff has already repaid $60,000.

Wagstaff paid her credit card bills and other expenses with her employer checks, the news release said. Wagstaff worked as the groups' general office manger for six years, until November 2010, the news release said. 

Wagstaff, pleaded guilty in May to a felony count of mail fraud. U.S. District Judge Jean C. Hamilton sentenced Wagstaff Friday morning.
