Construction Begins on I-55 Bridges near Festus

The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin work on the Interstate 55 bridges over BNSF Railroad this week. 

The project will build new northbound and southbound bridges on I-55 between Herculaneum and Festus, MoDOT said in a news release.

MoDOT crews will close one lane in each direction on I-55 on Wednesday and Thursday night from 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., the next day. Crews will work during those hours.

Two lanes on the interstate will remain open during daytime hours.

MoDOT expects to complete the project by late 2012.
